Why this exists

Good work gets you noticed. It doesn't get you promoted.

Every marketing book teaches you the craft. How to do GTM better. ABM better. Demand better.

That matters; you can't skip it. But at some point everyone at the table is good at their job. What you're judged on changes, and nobody tells you. I call it the Execution Ceiling.

It took me 15+ years to learn the skills that get you through it. These programmes are how you learn them in months, on your own work, with me in your corner every week.

What gets you promoted changes
Early career

How well you execute

Mid career

The business impact you can prove

Senior leadership

How effectively you lead, influence others and achieve results

Executive

The scale of positive impact and influence you have across the organisation

The heavy rule is the ceiling. Most people stall right there.

Two ways to work with me

Same 10 skills. Choose your room.

Both are application only, and both put your real work at the centre. The difference is who's in the room: a cohort of peers at your level, or just you and me.

How In Your Corner works
The Accelerator

Learn it on your own. Sharpen it together.

A 12-week cohort of around 24 marketers at a similar stage, so every challenge raised in the room is one you're facing or about to face. You learn each skill at your own pace, then we go deep on it live.

01.

Two hours live, every week

Live coaching with me. Recorded if you can't make it.

  • Bring a real challenge: a board paper, a CFO pushback, a promotion conversation
  • We workshop it live, and the whole room learns from it
  • You leave with a decision and a next step
02.

The full course

All 10 skills, self-serve. Work through each chapter, then we go deep on the call.

  • The principles and a practical framework for each skill
  • Short lessons you can do before work
  • Templates you use on your own projects
03.

A cohort of peers

Every member is chosen by application, so the room is well matched.

  • People at your stage, facing the same problems you are
  • Hear how others handled what's coming for you next
  • A network of future marketing leaders
Your 12 weeks

Twelve weeks. Ten skills. One stronger case.

Each cohort runs as a sequence, so the live sessions build on each other. New members join at the start of a cohort. After week 12 you can stay on month to month and keep your seat in the live sessions.

Weeks 1–3

In Your Corner · Private executive coaching

One on one. Built around what's on your desk.

In Your Corner is for when you need a result, not a curriculum. Every week we work on your actual challenges, and you apply what we decide in your job before we meet again.

I still run marketing and product full time, so I take on a small number of private clients each quarter. It's application only, and I'll only say yes if I'm confident I can help you.

By application onlyA small number of clients each quarter.

$1,500 AUD a month · 2-month minimum · continue as long as it's useful

01.
A weekly one-hour working session

Not a check-in. We workshop the live problem: the pitch, the board paper, the hard conversation.

02.
Completely tailored to you

We start with where you're stuck and where you want to be, then work backwards from there. No set curriculum; the 10 skills come in where you need them.

03.
Applied live in your work

You take it into your job that week. Next session, we review what happened and adjust.

04.
Built for speed

For people who want to see the difference in weeks, not quarters.

What people typically bring
  • A promotion case
  • The first 90 days in a new role
  • A board or ELT presentation
  • Winning over a new CFO or CEO
  • Restructuring a team
The curriculum

The 10 skills no one teaches you.

Craft gets you in the room. These get you trusted with more. They're the skills that most accelerated my path to CMO, the ones I still look for when deciding if someone is ready to lead, and the core of both programmes.

01.
Build an undeniable track record

Prove what changed because of your work; not just what you delivered.

06.
Prove ROI and win the CFO's confidence

Speak in cash, margin, payback and risk; not activity.

02.
Develop a point of view leaders respect

Know what you think before you're asked.

07.
Get things done through people you don't manage

Rally people around a clear goal without bulldozing them.

03.
Build executive presence and communication

Clear, succinct and structured; in every presentation, meeting and 1:1.

08.
Build systems that scale you and your team

Codify what you know so the team doesn't need you for every answer.

04.
Learn quickly, adapt fast and stay ahead

Learn how you learn, apply it, teach it, and make it a ritual.

09.
Win the political game without losing your integrity

Understand the rules; never lose yourself playing them.

05.
Become your boss's trusted strategic advisor

Be the person your boss wants an opinion from.

10.
Ask for promotion when the odds are in your favour

Build leverage, recognise when it peaks, then make a clear ask.

Who you'll learn from

This is the coaching I wish someone had given me 15 years ago.

I'm David. I'm Chief Marketing and Product Officer at Forwood Safety, where I lead marketing and product globally across 60 countries. It's my second CMO role, with 15 years in B2B SaaS marketing behind it.

Before Forwood, I spent more than a decade at Equiem, building the marketing function from the ground up and leading global GTM as the company expanded across 25 countries. I've worked five years in New York and ten in Australia, led teams across Australia, North America and Europe, and sat on the other side of the promotion decision many times.

I learned most of these skills the hard way. You don't have to.

Apply for In Your Corner

All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD). Both programmes are application only. No payment until you're accepted. Invoices can be addressed to your company if they're paying.

Is it for you?

Which one fits you?

Both are application only so the room stays at the right level. Not sure? Choose "Help me choose" on the application and I'll recommend one.

The Accelerator fits if

  • You're a Senior Manager, Head of or Director of Marketing in B2B
  • You're good at the craft, and you're aiming for VP or CMO
  • You learn well from peers and want to hear how others solve it
  • You can make most weekly sessions, or watch the recording

In Your Corner fits if

  • You have a specific, high-stakes goal in the next 6 to 12 months
  • You want every minute spent on your situation, not the group's
  • You'd rather move fast than move with a cohort
  • You'll do the work between sessions

Neither is for you if you want to learn channel tactics like paid, SEO or content, or you want a guaranteed promotion. Nobody can honestly promise that.

Questions

The fine print, plainly.

Which programme should I choose?

If you want structure, peers and a steady build over 12 weeks, choose the Accelerator. If you have a specific goal and want every minute on your situation, choose In Your Corner. Not sure? Pick "Help me choose" on the application and I'll recommend one.

Why is it application only?

So the room stays useful. Accelerator cohorts are matched by career stage, so everyone is at a similar point and can learn from each other. For In Your Corner, I only say yes if I'm confident I can help you.

How much time does it take?

The Accelerator is the two-hour live session each week, plus about an hour on the course. Sessions are always recorded. In Your Corner is one hour with me each week, plus applying what we decide in your job.

What happens after the minimum?

You continue month to month for as long as it's useful. Accelerator members keep their seat in the live sessions after week 12. Cancel any time after your minimum and you won't be billed again.

How selective is In Your Corner?

Very. I still run marketing and product full time, so I take on a small number of private clients each quarter, and only when I'm confident I can help. If the timing isn't right, I'll tell you when the next place opens.

Will this get me promoted?

I can't promise that, and I'd be wary of anyone who does. What it will do is help you build the evidence, the judgement and the case, so the decision is easier for the people making it.

Can my company pay?

Yes. Choose "My company is paying" on your application and I'll invoice your company monthly. The email above is written to make that request easy.

Apply

Ready to break through the ceiling?

A few short questions. I read every application myself and reply within three working days.

No payment now. If it's a fit, I'll send your first invoice.
